Decade of Sport

There will be a series of world class sporting events hosted across the UK over the next 10 years, with the 2012 Olympic and Paralmpic games widely regarded as the centrepiece.

Grass roots sport

The decade of sport is not just about elite sporting events.  There has also been a large investment in grass roots sport across the UK.  Schools have also been set a target of 5 hours of sport per week.  This is an increase from the 2008 target of getting 85% of school children to do 2 hours of sport per week.
