Eligibility through mother
Registered or naturalised as a British Citizen
Grandparent in British crown service
Information for applicants whose grandparent was in British Crown Service at the time of their birth

Applicant or father born in a colony
If your father or yourself were born in a colony you may be eligible for a British pasport.
Eligibility through adoption
Information for applicants who are adopted outside the UK by a British citizen parent.
Gratis passports
British citizens born on or before 2 September 1929 are entitled to apply for a gratis passport
