The opening was attended by 130 people, including a number of dignitaries from the defence industry and politics, as well as the British High Commissioner to Australia, The Rt Hon Baroness Valerie Amos.

Dytecna has been operating for over sixty years, providing innovative engineering solutions, as well as a range of products including training simulators and special purpose vehicles.

Dytecna's success in the Asia Pacific region, and worldwide, has in part been driven by its acquisition of a Melbourne engineering company. Late in 2009, Dytecna acquired a company which designed and manufactured Ground Power Units (GPU's) prompting its expansion from 30 to 60 employees. This played a significant part in Dytecna's impressive recent growth, its overall value increasing from £4 million in 2002 to a target of £50 million for 2010.

Keith Mowbray, the company's Executive VP for Business Development is buoyant about Dytecna's prospects:

"We're very excited about our future over here and are keen to continue extending our international business networks. The support we've received from UK Trade & Investment in Australia has been invaluable and we hope to work closely with them to continue growing our business throughout the Asia Pacific region."

Since the official opening, Dytecna has experienced a marked increase in enquiries from all market sectors, including being awarded a significant engineering and support project from a Canberra-based defence office.
