The passport issuing process is a complex one and to protect your personal data and the integrity of the UK passport, rigorous security controls are essential. It can therefore take up to 4 weeks for a passport to be processed, occasionally longer for first time applications. We advise all applicants not to confirm travel arrangements until they have received their new passport.
