How to end

Dissolution is the term used to describe the termination of a civil partnership. Dissolution is a procedure similar to divorce. To get a dissolution you must have been in a civil partnership for more than one year. You should seek advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau and/or a UK solicitor about your personal circumstances. If they advise that the UK Courts have jurisdiction in your particular case, you should be able to submit a petition to any county court. If you do not live in the UK, you can submit a petition remotely. Unless the case becomes defended, there will be no actual hearing for the dissolution or separation order. However if an application is also made for financial relief (or concerning residence, or contact with any children), there may be a need to be present in court at some point.
